The Institute for Research, Education and Training in the Addictions (IRETA) seeks an executive leader as Deputy Director to continue its success in advancing health and recovery through an alignment of science, policy and practice in addressing addictions in America. IRETA (www.ireta.org) is a 501(c)(3) and a national, state and regional leader in focusing on improved healthcare, policy, research, prevention, intervention, treatment and recovery in the problematic use of substances and addiction.
The Deputy Director shall be a highly professional and dedicated individual with passion and the proven capacity to organize, implement and accomplish all aspects of IRETA's work in a timely, efficient and professional way. He/she will be a recognized leader capable of responding to the opportunities of IRETA and have proven experience in successfully managing talented leaders. He/she will be someone whose dedication to this work motivates others to want to succeed and achieve those same lofty goals to fulfill the Mission of IRETA.
The Deputy Director shall have a Ph.D. or, at minimum, an advanced degree with significant experience in the addictions, co-occurring disorder, mental health, nursing and/or healthcare itself. Excellent writing skills and a current knowledge of Healthcare Reform and/or internet and web based technologies would be an added significant credential. The Deputy Director will report to the Executive Director of IRETA. IRETA is based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Some travel is required as is local residency.

Substance Abuse Operations Specialist

DUTIES: This is a highly specialized professional position involving the review, analysis, evaluation, monitoring and coordination of Behavioral Health Services in a managed care environment for the Medicaid population. The duties of this position focus on Substance Abuse Services. This position also must be prepared to assist with and coordinate Mental Health Services. On a daily basis, this position assists in the assessment of the HealthChoices- Nine County Program and works with the Operations Team on clinical, programmatic and systemic problems/needs related to its coordination and consolidation of Behavioral Health Services and special needs populations with an emphasis on Substance Abuse Services
LOCATION AND HOURS: The main office of Southwest Behavioral Health Management (SBHM) is located just outside of New Castle, PA. SBHM serves the Counties of Armstrong, Indiana, Butler, Lawrence, Washington, Westmoreland, Mercer, Venango and Crawford. Much of SBHM’s work involves monitoring a program in Trafford, PA (near Monroeville, PA). This position is housed in SBHM’s main office, but travel may be expected three or more days per week to Trafford and locations throughout the nine county area. With the exception of limited conferences, all travel is day travel. The hours of work are 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. with a half hour lunch. Other hours may be required as determined by agency and client need.
ABOUT NEW CASTLE: New Castle is located just under an hour north of Pittsburgh, PA. New Castle is located in Lawrence County, which is home to McConnell’s Mills, New Wilmington and other areas of dramatic natural beauty. Shenango Township, where SBHM, Inc, is located offers an unusually low cost of living and significantly lower taxes than nearby Allegheny County. New Castle offers easy access to major highways traveling from Pittsburgh to Sharon, PA, Youngstown Ohio, Butler, PA and other areas.
REQUIREMENTS: Minimum experience and training required: Bachelors Degree (with a major in chemical dependency, sociology, social welfare, psychology, nursing or related field) and four years experience in substance abuse services. Strong skills in organization and documentation are required. Applicants must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and have strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to work in a variety of settings. High consideration given to candidates who possess one or more of the following: strong understanding and/or experience of recovery; Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC); experience working with managed care; and masters or other advanced degree.
