Pennsylvania Drug and Alcohol Coalition

The Pennsylvania D&A Coalition is in its third year, an unprecedented collaboration among stakeholders to break down silos and address substance use and addiction as a chronic disease from which recovery is very possible. Facilitated by IRETA and led by the Departments of Health and Welfare, the Coalition recently published recommendations for new state leadership.

Evidence-Based Practices

IRETA helps move important scientific findings into mainstream addiction treatment practice by promoting the use of Evidence-Based Practices including SBIRT, Motivational Interviewing, Motivational Incentives, and more. IRETA provides training and technical assistance to providers interested in utilizing evidence-based practices using a scientific model of implementation developed by the national ATTC network.

Opioid abuse is a national epidemic. IRETA is committed to research and training to address abuse of licit and illicit opioids and improve the quality of medication-assisted treatment for opioid dependent patients.

Workforce Development

It is widely recognized that the behavioral health field is facing a national workforce crisis. Demand for addition treatment is projected to raise substantially as a result of national parity and healthcare reform. IRETA provides resources for recruitment, retention, and training efforts to expand the field and improve the quality of available behavioral healthcare.
