Even if you’re a civilian, you can improve your ability to provide quality behavioral healthcare to military populations. This webinar explores nuanced alcohol and drug trends within military populations and factors contributing to substance use. Presenter Ariel David — who is a veteran, researcher and community advocate — also summarizes basic military cultural competence.
Presenter
Ariel L. David is the Project Coordinator of the Armed Services Network of Louisiana. This initiative by the Jefferson Parish Alliance of Concerned Citizens is a community coalition which addresses the needs of Louisiana service members and veterans. Previously, David served on active duty in the United States Navy in the fields of aviation and combat operations where she received multiple awards for her military service.
Now, after spending 9 years in the military, David focuses on participatory-based research in coalition building and community advocacy, with a special focus in the behavioral health of unique sub-populations. She currently serves on the Board for ETC!, and is actively involved with multiple national military organizations.
