This presentation will lessen communication barriers due to paradigm confusion, separate the paradigms of alcoholism, addiction, and dependence, identify ‘real world’ implications for serving clients better: DSM-5 and beyond.
Presenter
Tad T. Gorske, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist in Pennsylvania and Director of Outpatient Neuropsychology in the Division of Neuropsychology and Rehabilitation Psychology within the University of Pittsburgh Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Gorske has over 20 years of experience in the assessment and treatment of psychiatric and substance use disorders in both adolescents and adults. Currently, he specializes in the neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation of patients with traumatic and acquired brain injuries.
He has published in peer-reviewed journals on topics related to addiction, mental health, neuropsychological assessment, and Motivational Interviewing and he is the primary author, along with Dr. Steven Smith from UC Santa Barbara, of Collaborative Therapeutic Neuropsychological Assessment.
