SBIRT for Youth Learning Community: Featuring Amy Pepin

Description

The webinar focuses on the NH Youth SBIRT Initiative which targets adolescents and young adults at primary care sites across the state with the goal of screening 10,000 youth by 2017. The presentation describes the structure of this vanguard initiative, the target sites, and specifics regarding the components of the SBIRT process. Identification of the specific tools utilized to implement youth SBIRT in New Hampshire and examples of the flow of the process at varied sites are included. Description of implementation support, available resources, and recommendations for facilitating sustainability are highlighted through lessons learned to date.

Learning Objectives

  • Participants will understand which screens are being implemented for youth in NH and why
  • Participants will differentiate the components of the youth SBIRT process through examples from NH implementation sites
  • Participants will identify implementation lessons learned and strategies for reducing barriers to youth SBIRT implementation in primary care settings

Presenter

Amy Pepin, a consultant with the Community Health Institute/JSI, provides technical assistance and training to NH Youth SBIRT Initiative implementation sites. Amy has more than 20 years’ experience working with and for youth and families providing, developing and supporting strategies and services that prevent, reduce, and treat alcohol and other drug problems. Ms. Pepin is an MSW, LICSW and a Certified Prevention Specialist.
