Earlier this month, the CDC released a report that should startle anyone who knows or works with people with substance use disorders. Seemingly because of the increase in opioid use in the last decade, there has been a surge in hepatitis C (HCV) cases particularly among young people, particularly east of the Mississippi.
Substance users are at a higher risk for HCV infection. Most people who have HCV don’t know that they do. And the disease can impact a person’s health for a lifetime.
