Description

This webinar covers basic principles that can be used to guide SBIRT implementation in any site or organization.
Objectives – Learn:

  • The importance of developing a vision for your implementation project;
  • Ways of assessing an organization’s culture and behavior and why this is important to determining how to implement SBIRT;
  • How to do on site observations and develop an effective implementation plan;
  • The role of a champion in effectively implementing SBIRT;
  • To adapt to the site’s ever changing needs and support effective and ongoing implementation;
  • How to address sustainability.

Presenter

Janice L. Pringle, PhD, is Associate Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy and Director of the Program Evaluation and Research Unit (PERU). She is an epidemiologist by training with extensive experience in health services research. Her particular area of research expertise is in risk substance use services, especially research involving the application of screening, brief intervention and referral to treatment (SBIRT) within various healthcare settings. Dr. Pringle is currently leading the evaluation of a Pharmacy Quality Alliance (PQA) funded initiative within Pennsylvania that has involved the application of SBI techniques by community pharmacists for the purpose of improving medication adherence. Dr. Pringle is also accomplished in developing healthcare policy research and briefs that have been used to inform policy development at both the state and federal level.
